About COTA National Seniors - What does COTA do?
COTA, through its State and Territory Councils, works as an
advocate for all older people in Australia.
COTA offers:
Information
- - on available services to older people.

Advice
- - a range of advisory services.

Referral
- - puts older people, their carers and families in touch
with appropriate service providers.

Policy Development
- - analyses the effects of government policies and services
and liaises with government in developing and implementing policies.

Representation
and advocacy
- - consults with older people on issues that affect them
and informs government, service providers and the community about their
needs.

Positive Ageing
- - promotes positive images and attitudes towards ageing
through national awareness programs.

Membership
- - to individuals and organisations.

Networking
- - liaises with other national and international organisations
which work with older people. COTA actively encourages cooperation between
all national operators in the aged care sector.

Publications
- - include Australia's peer-reviewed quarterly Australasian
Journal on Ageing. COTA's bimonthly publication
ReportAge provides up-to-date
information about parliamentary and national issues relating to older
people. Strategic Ageing is a series of occasional papers on important policy issues.
The Publications list shows books and project reports, policy submissions, speeches
and journal articles. Media releases and articles
in older people's press are available in full text.
